  30. This may be implicated. The 8250 has a single octet receive buffer. Much
  31. better is to use a 16550A that has a 16 octet receive buffer FIFO. With the
  32. modern UART, you would be able to take advantage of additional settings in
  33. Kermit to reduce delays and get better throughput. On many (non-notebook)
  34. systems, the UART is fairly easily replaced, either via chip replacement or
  35. addition of a fairly inexpensive ISA card.
